Bandai Model Kit World Cup and F144 Contest Updates.

Yeah, I've not blogged in a while since Sky Friggin Broadband went down for about a month. And since it's Thanksgiving in the US, we're just enjoying air conditioning and high-speed internet in the office right now. Might as well blog.

Updates.

-Bandai Model Kit World Cup was concluded and it was a blast. I took home two SD Astray Red Frames. Hehehe. This year's champion was Eric Capucion, also known as Ecapz of MechaPinoy. Although undoubtedly an awesome build, none of us expected it would be him. It was the uniqueness of the concept and the proper execution that pushed his build through. An MG Ball. Imagine that!
Ecapz' MG Bum-Ball-Bee

Just before the announcement of winners that one fateful Sunday, me and Eric were sitting together while building the SD Red Frame in the detailing contest. We both didn't take it seriously as we just wanted to get the kit. Halfway through, he said "Kunwari sasali talaga. Iuwi ko lang tong kit na 'to panalo na ko!" then laughed. That translates in English as "Pretending to take it seriously. I'm already a winner as long as I take this kit home!". Two hours later, he took home more than just an SD kit. More images in his blog.

-A week after the World Cup was the IPMS Bert Anido Nationals and MechaPinoy's Formula 144. Since I promised myself last year that I'd join F144 this year, I did despite all the mishaps. The Avalanche Dynames would take too long and the Hazel Sniper came in short-handed. Read as: missing limbs. Yeah. So I resorted to a half-assed, less-than-a-week build with a very visible seam line on the right arm.

I built the Freedom Striker. I'll post pics as soon as I get the kit back. So I rushed a build just to be able to submit an entry, and arrived at the venue only to find out I left its weapon at home. Yeah, sucks. Anyway, I haven't gotten the chance to do a photo shoot, but here are some from the event by Gelo and g3seven, respectively.

He's supposed to have Exia's GN sword too, but I apparently forgot to put in in the box when I packed him.

-Up next, MechaPinoy's SD Con.

MG Endless Waltz and the rest of After Colony

MG Deathscythe Hell Custom? Bandai better not be kidding. WE WANT OUR MG ENDLESS WALTZ Hahahaha XD

It looks like the rest of the After Colony MG's will come out all at once and possibly this Christmas. We never saw prototype versions of these and now they're all in color and displayed together. Bandai's playing their cards right this year.

MechaPinoy's: Formula 144 Contest 2010

Here it is folks, the biggest MechaPinoy event of the year, Formula 144. The contest is set to be held during the IPMS Nationals event, in SM Megamall on November 15-21, 2010.

As the name suggests, the goal of the contest is to focus on the 1:144 scale GunPla models. All 1:144 Bandai kits are eligible be it retro, HG, FG, ungraded or the more recent RG. There will be two categories: Beginner and Experienced.

For the Beginner bracket, the kits should be built out of the box, meaning no modifications or add-ons. Only the contents of the kit itself can be used. Competition in this category is based solely on basic kit building skills such as sealing, painting and proper assembly. Custom paint jobs are welcome.

For the Experienced bracket, mods are all-out as long as all parts are 1:144 scale or non-scale such as Kotobukiya add-ons. Contestants that have won before may only participate in this category.

"Read More" for Blogger users

As I update my blog and moved to my new URL, I wanted to improve on the blog's over all awesomeness. OR okay-ness, I guess XD

Among functionality that I always wanted to have was the "Read More>>" link you would usually see in blogs when a post is too long and would otherwise make the Home page much longer than it has to be. Apparently, up until Blogger's 10th anniversary, there was no built-in feature for that. There's a long process of editing HTML codes, but that didn't work for me as my blog template is XML-based.

So, until Blogger's tenth, only Wordpress users had this function.

Now, you want to know how to enable Read More for your blogger?

Moved Again!

The last time I changed it was because I was trying to avoid all the spammer comments. But those were retained even after I changed URL. Post comment authentication fixed it.

I was at a rush when I changed it so I didn't really put an effort on it. So ZeddTheMelonLord came out. Which is dumb XD

Here it is, my last move. Promise.

Now fixing up links. Please bear with me. XD

Edit: 3/12/2012 REALLY! THIS IS MY LAST MOVE! No more changing URLs.

I HAVE MOVED

For security reasons, I have moved my blog to a different URL after using it for 4 years.I hope the spam bot can't read this.

After using my URL http://arckham.blogspot.com/ for four years, a spam bot shook my stature. How sad. Anyway, back to regular programming.

WIP: HG Zaku Phantom Spawn Custom Part 3

Seems I've been forgetting to update this. It's already completed though XD
Quick update for now.

Cement didn't do it all the way for the thigh seams so I had to putty.

Mono eye cut out from MG Wing Ka's beam saber runner. I knew the translucent green plastic would come handy someday.

I cleaned my desk up coz it was too messy to work anymore. There, nice and neat. Did this while curing cement, glue and putty.

Mechapinoy on TV!

Mechapinoy had an (extremely short) interview with MOGTV which aired on local station TV 5 last January 29 at 11pm. The guys said they were there for half a day and so we waited for it to air. The entire segment was only about two minutes long, but what amount of screen time is screen time nonetheless XD

The blog post on their website was pretty hilarious starting with a picture of our founder Richie Ramos, followed by "Malamang eh iniisip n'yo ngayon, "WTF, sino 'yan?"". Lol. Hahaha.

More or less unimpressive, but it's a 2-minute even worth mentioning and and telling the story of over and over again. That's it for now. Zedd Arckham out.

Seven Sword, Finally.

Finally, Bandai decided to really make a Seven Sword unit. The HG-00 kit will come out early this year and is already available for pre-order in sites like 1999.co. Definitely one of the kits to look out for this season.

Finally a kit deserving of the XN Raiser that came with HobbyJapan Oct '09 issue. Doesn't come with a GN Sword-III though. It remains exclusive to the 00-Raiser kits.

The Seven Sword unit: GN Buster Sword, GN Sword-II long and short, GN Beam Katars and the usual GN Beam Sabers. But what's that other one?

A fourth type of GN Sword-II, perhaps?

In other news, a MechaPinoy class picture from the MP Christmas party last December.

Zakuhin Mo Mukha Mo!

MechaPinoy is kicking off 2010 with its 1st in-house contest for this year: Zakuhin Mo Mukha Mo!!! An all out Zaku model kit contest. GO WILD. Any mods, add-ons and paint jobs are allowed. The ultimate in individual expression of a Zaku.

That's right, people. MechaPinoy's first in-house contest of the year. And all-out war in celebration of the granddaddy of all grunt units, the Zaku. It's simple. It's a build-off using any Zaku of your choice as your base kit. All Zakus from UC to CE in all scales and grades.

Hi-Zack? Geloog? Gouf? "IT'S NOT A ZAKU, BOY! NOT A ZAKU!" -Ramba Ral
